Inhibition of IL-4Rα reduces CCL26 in bronchial epithelial cells from COPD patients

Proteomics and Phosphoproteomics Analysis of Parental and Cisplatin-Resistant Ovarian Cancer Cell Lines Treated with C26A6 and Volasertib

I mitt examensarbete Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynaecologic malignancy, with most patients diagnosed at an advanced stage and facing poor long-term survival. Resistance to cisplatin-based chemotherapy is a major clinical obstacle, yet its proteomic drivers remain poorly defined. In this study, I applied data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry with DIA-NN data processing to analyse one parental and two cis

The Stobaeus Project

Museum Stobaeanum Explore the collections of Museum Stobaeanum – the first public museum in Lund, established in the early 18th century, with roots in the cabinet of curiosities of Kilian Stobaeus (1690–1742), professor in natural philosophy and history at Lund University. Who was Kilian Stobaeus? He was a physician, a scientist, and a university vice-chancellor. Kilian Stobaeus was the man whose

Surface proteins of pathogenic streptococci

A streptococcus) and the group B streptococcus (GBS) are two important human pathogens that cause different types of diseases and express different surface structures implicated in virulence. This thesis focuses on several surface proteins expressed by these pathogens, analyzing the biological function of these proteins and their ability to elicit protective immunity.

The Impact of Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus (HPV; Types 6, 11, 16, and 18) L1 Virus-Like Particle Vaccine on Infection and Disease Due to Oncogenic Nonvaccine HPV Types in Sexually Active Women Aged 16-26 Years

Background. We evaluated the impact of a quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine on infection and cervical disease related to 10 nonvaccine HPV types (31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, and 59) associated with >20% of cervical cancers. The population evaluated included HPV-naive women and women with preexisting HPV infection and/or HPV-related disease at enrollment. Methods. Phase 3 effic

The neutrophil-mobilizing cytokine interleukin-26 in the airways of long-term tobacco smokers

Long-term tobacco smokers with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or chronic bronchitis display an excessive accumulation of neutrophils in the airways; an inflammation that responds poorly to established therapy. Thus, there is a need to identify new molecular targets for the development of effective therapy. Here, we hypothesized that the neutrophil-mobilizing cytokine interleukin (IL)

Eotaxin-3 (CCL26) exerts innate host defense activities that are modulated by mast cell proteases

BackgroundDuring bacterial infections of the airways, a Th1-profiled inflammation promotes the production of several host defense proteins and peptides with antibacterial activities including -defensins, ELR-negative CXC chemokines, and the cathelicidin LL-37. These are downregulated by Th2 cytokines of the allergic response. Instead, the eosinophil-recruiting chemokines eotaxin-1/CCL11, eotaxin-2
