Vi kommer att läsa ett urval av texter av viktiga grekiska författare – Sapfo, Homeros, Sofokles, Euripides, Herodotos, Platon, Lukianos, Plutarchos, Plotinos, och många flera. För varje delområde finns grundlitteratur angiven vilken kompletteras av en avhandling och aktuella vetenskapliga artiklar som du ska förhålla dig självständigt till. Examinationen sker genom muntliga och skriftliga redovisningar exempelvis recension för vetenskaplig tidskrift, presentation av konferenspaper eller vetenskaplig artikel.

I kursen ges en översiktlig genomgång av grekiskans utveckling från antik till tidig bysantinsk tid, med avseende på förändringar i ljudsystem, grammatik och textstrukturer. Dessutom behandlas förändringar i grekiskans vokabulär och deras bakgrund i historiska händelser och perioder.
