Vid Statistiska Institutionen sker forskning inom olika områden med tillämpningar inom ekonomi och samhällsvetenskap, t ex metoder för urvalsundersökningar, analys av valresultat, grafteori, multivariat analys och tidsserieanalys samt demografi. En annan viktig del av institutionens forskning har biostatistisk inriktning.Research at the Department of Statistics is concentrated to areas involving applications in economics and social sciences. These include methods for sample surveys, analysis of election results, graph theory, multivariate analysis, time series analysis and demography. Another important part of the Department's research concerns biostatistics.
Substrate and product inhibition of hydrogen production during sucrose fermentation by the extremely thermophilic bacterium Caldicellulosiruptor saccharolyticus was studied.
