Lund: 20 November 2019 2019-11-19 and 2019-11-20 organised Sound Environment Centre, in collaboration with the University of Nottingham, a workshop with invited scholars and practitioners from various disciplines to exchange thoughts, experiences and knowledge on ‘noise’ in its widest sense. The workshop run for two days framed by two public symposiums: one introducing the field; the other pointin

Understanding the Paradox of (Im)Perfection : An Actor-Network Approach to Digitally Mediated Preaching

This paper adds to the growing body of literature on digitally mediated preaching by using actor–network theory (ANT) in conjunction with Amanda Lagerkvist’s work on digital media as theoretical lenses to describe and discuss what we term “the paradox of (im)perfection”. This paradox refers to the tension between an ideal of perfection and an ideal of imperfection (or vulnerability) as experiencedThis paper adds to the growing body of literature on digitally mediated preaching by using actor–network theory (ANT) in conjunction with Amanda Lagerkvist’s work on digital media as theoretical lenses to describe and discuss what we term “the paradox of (im)perfection”. Who cares for urban repair? Stretching the life of buildings, the case of the Edman Pavillion in Lund’s (Sweden) People’s Park.

In architecture and urban geography, discussions on repair, maintenance and adap5ve re-usehave emerged as a crucial intellectual terrain. Temporal aspects of how the urban fabric isused have also emerged as an issue worth theore5cal and empirical a=en5on. Latching ontothese themes, we will present work tracking the history of conten5on around the publiclyowned mee5ng and arts venue in Lund’s Peopl

Schedule Sustainable Cities And Communities Course

Sustainable Cities and Communities The world is urbanizing at a high speed. 50% of the global population lives in cities, while the same number for Eu- rope is 75%. A large portion of wealth and culture, but also of pollution, stress, and crime, originates from cities. The careful planning of cities and communities plays a key role in the transition to a more sustainable and resili- ent society, s

Objectives To explore whether and for how long use of healthcare services is increased among children and adolescents after covid-19. Design Before and after register based study. Setting General population of Norway. Participants Norwegians aged 1-19 years (n=706 885) who were tested for SARS-CoV-2 from 1 August 2020 to 1 February 2021 (n=10 279 positive, n=275 859 negative) or not tested (n=420

Development of Novel Therapies, Models, and Biomarkers for Osteoclast-Related Diseases

Osteoclasts are derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and form upon stimulation of osteoclast precursors by macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and receptor activator of nuclear factor κΒ ligand (RANKL). Osteoclasts resorb bone by secreting hydrochloric acid, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and cathepsin K. Failure of bone resorption or bone formation results in metabolic bone disOsteoclasts are derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and form upon stimulation of osteoclast precursors by macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and receptor activator of nuclear factor κΒ ligand (RANKL). Reaction mechanism of metalloenzymes studied by theoretical methods

Metalloenzymes are proteins that contain one or more metal ions bound to protein. They constitute about one-third of all enzymes known so far and they often perform hard chemical reactions involving small substrates, like H2 and N2. In our research, we focus on those metal ions that are located in the active sites and perform redox reactions, i.e. involving electron transfer. Why enzymes? As we kMetalloenzymes catalyse a wide variety of reactions in nature. In the thesis, I have studied the reaction mechanism of three metalloenzymes, viz. [NiFe] hydrogenase (H2ase), dimethyl sulfoxide reductase (DMSOR) and formate dehydrogenase (FDH), by theoretical methods, namely quantum mechanics (QM), combined quantum mechanical and molecular mechanics (QM/MM), as well as QM/MM thermodynamic cycle per

Patent misuse and ‘sham’ - Development of new principles under EU competition law

This thesis takes its stance in the AstraZeneca judgment from the General Court and the latest developments in EU competition law and compares these with the equivalent standards of US antitrust law. Focus is on similarities and divergences between the EU application of competition law and the more developed doctrines of Walker Process and Noerr-Pennington in the US. The analysis is made in respec

Computational Science Curricula

ASG 2025-2026 How do we shape higher education for a world driven by computational methods? As computational science becomes essential across disciplines, we need to rethink how we design, structure, and support education in this rapidly evolving interdisciplinary field. Computational science is an exciting, interdisciplinary field that uses advanced computational methods to solve big research cha
