Is there a potential international market for Danish welfare pork? - A consumer survey from Denmark, Sweden, and Germany

This cross-country study investigates the potential to improve pig welfare by exploiting consumer demand, domestically and in export markets, for welfare pork produced in indoor production systems. The analysis is based on questionnaire data collected in 2019 focusing on demand for Danish welfare pork both in Denmark and in two nearby export markets, Sweden and Germany. Word-initial consonant–vowel coordination in a lexical pitch-accent language

Previous research has acknowledged the effect of prosody on inter-gestural coordination, but specifically the effect of tones is still understudied. This paper has a two-fold purpose. First, it aims to explore effects of the Swedish word accents on word-initial consonant–vowel (CV) coarticulation. Second, it aims to revisit the existing evidence for tonal integration. A Phenomenographic Analysis Of Students’ Experience Of Geological Time

Geological time is by many geoscience instructors considered a threshold concept for geoscience students, being acentral concept for how we experience geosceince phenomena that takes place on a spatio-temporal scale rangingfrom micro (e.g. cloud formation) to macro (e.g. plate tectonics). If one wishes to understand geoscience phenomenathat goes beyond human perception, one must move from the conc

Scattering approach to time-dependent charge and energy transport in mesoscopic conductors

Popular Abstract in English Technological devices in our society are used on a daily basis. The speed in processing jobs and the memory capacity are two key parameters used to set their prices. The information is encoded with a binary system physically implemented on semiconductor circuits, where the bit 1 corresponds to a finite voltage and the bit 0 to zero voltage. In order to increase the speThis thesis aims to contribute to the field of time controlled charge and energy transport in mesoscopic systems. In Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 a short review of the scattering matrix theory is presented, including both charge and energy transport, useful to understand the mathematical landscape used in Papers I, II, III and IV. Chapter 3 briefly presents the thermoelectric properties of m

Small-Scale Dosimetry for the Testis: Applications in Nuclear Medicine Diagnostics and Therapy

Popular Abstract in English 111-Indium is a radioactive isotope that can be chemically linked to different molecules. When this compound is given to patients is distributed heterogeneously within the structures that build up the testicle. Different parts of the so-called germ cells are sensitive to radiation in different ways. Therefore, if a radioisotope that send out electrons with low energies It is well known that the testicles are among the most radiosensitive tissue, and constitute an important critical target for both external and internal radiation during diagnostic and therapeutic use of radionuclides. In systemic radionuclide therapy where very high activities are administered, the testis may become a dose-limiting organ; often with a complex, non-uniform activity distribution an

Characterization of Membrane Proteins: From a gated plant aquaporin to animal ion channel receptors

Popular Abstract in English Cells are the basic unit of life that exhibit dependence on water and ambient temperature to flourish and survive. So it is remarkable that the proteins responsible for the interaction of water and heat with the cell were not discovered until relatively recently. It was assumed for decades that water freely diffuse into and out of the cells without support. The cells arMembrane proteins play several important roles in a cell. Among these proteins are aquaporins (AQPs) and transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channels that mediate water transport, temperature and noxious chemical sensation, respectively. The function of some AQPs, for example the spinach isoform SoPIP2;1 is regulated by pH, phosphorylation and heavy metals such as mercury. However, the mechanis
